What a weekend!  

So so wet!  Not many customers Sunday, so I did quite a bit of re-arranging.  Here are a couple of images I took.

Messing About With Paint

I think elephants are adorable.  

So I thought I'd try my hand at painting one suitable for a little girl's room.  

I tried to make the background look like patchy wallpaper, but it didn't quite work like I had planned.... I ended up with too much paint which resulted in covering up the patterned paper I had glued on.  I still don't mind the end result though, I quite like the smudgy pink background.

Love this setting outside my shop today.  Perfect stop for the hubbies that don't want to venture into the sea of girlieness that is my shop. 

It was a lovely and sunny but very hot day, and there were a few customers around, which was great.

Goings On

Hi Everyone, it's been a while.

Here are snippets of what's been happening.

Still love having my shop, and adding more handmade and vintage stock.

Here's my new family member Charlie, an Indian Ringneck.  

I wanted him so bad my daughter bought him for me as an early Christmas present. 

 He's a bit cheeky and very loveable.

If you visit me at my shop on Sundays, you'll see him keeping me company sitting on my counter.

Went to a Coldplay concert.  

My 3rd time seeing them, and loved every minute.

And finally, I've completed a short millinery course with Christine from Muadies Millinery.

It was very satisfying to create the cloche hat and I can't wait to do more.

Tatty Old Beds

I'm so drawn to these old cast iron beds.

If they have peeling paint and a little rust, all the better.

My kind of heaven is an old cast iron bed in a room with vj walls.
That's one of my must haves if I ever have my own house.

A New Family Member

I got myself a funny looking little canary on Sunday.  

There was a stall selling different types of birds right across from my shop, and of course I just couldn't resist this little guy.

I just can't think of a name yet and I'm not sure if it's a boy or a girl.

Apparently you can't tell until canaries are older.  

I'm going to assume she's a girl.  

She'll be going out on Sundays with me to my shop.  

She's very cute, but still scared of me.  I suppose it'll take a little time for her to settle into her new surroundings.

Out and About

Spent a couple of days at Burleigh Heads with my daughter and family while recuperating from a small operation.  Just loved waking up to the sound of waves.

Spent a day at Bangalow while I was there.  

I just loved the shops and the food was wonderful.

I especially loved Lazybones, but didn't take any photos ....... I forgot to take any in all my excitement of seeing all the gorgeousness.  

I've always loved their products and their shop had gorgeous vintage items as well. I want to go back. 

Scored this gorgeous vintage doll pram on the weekend.  

I don't think I'll ever part with it beacause I love it so much.  It'll be great for a prop in my shop.

Bought this screen as well.  I've wanted one for so long.

Sunday

This is the start of my vintagey sewing area.  I've got a long way to go yet, but I'm loving it.

Sunday was steaming hot.  

People were still out and about at the market which was great.  I'm sure plenty were at the beach.... perfect weather for it.

This is my display as soon as you enter my shop.   

I'm not really into owls, but I'm loving the ones I have here.  Probably because they're white and distressed.  

I think most things look 100% better with that shabby look.

New Handmade Art Doll

I took a trip to Melbourne recently, and this is what I came back with....for my shop.

She's completely handmade and is very gorgeous.  

Loved the trams,

 and the lane ways.

Loved all the little coffee shops, I wish I had more time to go to more.

The food was gorgeous as was the coffee.

Our hotel room was in front of Flinders Street Railway Station.

I've never seen so many gorgeous cake shops.  This one had a permanent line-up to get in, so we never got to eat here...we didn't have the time to stand and wait.  I'm definitely going next time I take a trip to Melbourne though.

I just managed to eat half my muesli dry with a touch of yogurt.  I thought it was some new trendy way of eating it, so I didn't say anything.  The waiter came out laughing that he forgot to give me my milk.  It was quite funny.

I was in heaven eating my purchases on our way back to our hotel room.

These guys were really smelly.  Gorgeous, but smelly.

Visited some relatives and saw a photo of my Mother when she was little that I'd never seen before.  She's the cute one on the left.

And we visited the humble little house I was born and spent my early childhood in.

It looked better when we lived in it.  My father had rose bushes growing all over the place.

Can't wait to go to Melbourne again, I loved it so much.
